HQIP Associate Director

The Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) is an independent organisation established to promote quality in healthcare and in particular, to increase the impact that clinical audit has on health care improvement.

HQIP attracts projects and funding from a variety of sources including:

• Governments
• Devolved nations
• Charities
• Independent healthcare sector
• Other healthcare related bodies

We manage NHS clinical work programmes on behalf of NHS England and other devolved nations. This includes the National Clinical Audit & Patient Outcome Programme (NCAPOP), which consists of over forty national clinical audits and clinical outcome review programmes.  We are supported by three parent organisations:  The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges; The Royal College of Nursing and National Voices.

We also receives ad-hoc funding from a variety of other sources for healthcare work-related activity.

We are seeking an HQIP Associate Director to join our team. You will be required to work flexibly across work-streams providing leadership and guidance at both programme and individual project level to ensure high quality outputs that are methodologically robust and clinically relevant including working and engaging with:

• the relevant project teams to ensure robust commissioning, development and delivery of programmes to time, stakeholder satisfaction, quality and budget
• funders – for example NHS England, the Welsh Government, other devolved nations, charities and other funders – and a network of senior clinicians to plan and deliver the scope and development for new programmes as well as at points of contract extension or re-tender
• the HQIP team to disseminate the key messages from across the HQIP programme and maximise opportunities to integrate development and delivery to NHS providers.

HQIP Associate Director

Our work focuses on the following key strategic areas:

• Using best management and procurement practice, we commission, manage, support and promote national and local programmes of quality improvement. This includes the national and local clinical audit programmes, the Clinical Outcome Review Programmes and the National Joint Registry on behalf of NHS England and other healthcare departments and organisations for example. The work also includes delivering short to medium term projects awarded by charities and other healthcare organisations
• We encourage wide use of robust data for quality improvement of care, offering patient choice, promoting patient safety, supporting revalidation and service accreditation, commissioning, service redesign, and research
• We inform and influence national healthcare policy by effectively communicating our work and that of our partners
• We support healthcare professionals to review and improve their practice by providing opportunities to share best practice
• We ensure that patients and carers are at the heart of our work  through continued, strategic involvement  in all relevant processes and projects

Teams

You will work in a small, friendly, dynamic, fast-paced, busy HQIP team across a variety of projects including both NCAPOP and non-NCAPOP projects.

Key requirements of this position are:

• Clinical/professional qualification or health associated Masters degree or relevant health service research experience
• Experience of :

1. NCAPOP practice or
2. Delivery of healthcare QI projects or
3. Project delivery within the NHS or healthcare environment

• Understanding of healthcare information governance
• Demonstrable senior leadership experience including the engagement of a variety of stakeholder groups
• Ability to work independently and flexibly with a high level of ambiguity in a complex and unpredictable environment with well-developed planning and organisational skills

Under normal conditions (non-pandemic) there is a limited requirement to work from a central London office.  HQIP actively encourages working from home (WFH) and virtual working (for example using Skype and Zoom).  Secondment arrangements and opportunities will be considered.
