Social Care audit guidance

Guidance | Published: 18 May 2017

The aim of social care is to improve, or maintain, the quality of peoples’ lives, and their well-being, through personalisation and empowerment. To understand how successful social care is and to improve upon it, we must measure outcomes, using care audit, to check how effective services are for people who use them.

With this in mind, HQIP has produced a suite of guides offering a step-by-step approach to audit in social care using the quality improvement cycle. The guides have been co-designed with service users and employees to ensure that they accurately reflect the experiences, challenges and achievements of organisations, services and disciplines within the social care sector.

All of the guides are free and available to download from this webpage. They are as follows:

  • Social care audit in practice
  • Social care audit in practice – Summary guide
  • Social care audit for leaders
