There are differences in health outcomes between different population groups and many of these are unjust and warrant action. This report assesses the inclusion of healthcare inequality data in national clinical audits in the National Clinical Audit and Patient Outcomes Programme (NCAPOP).

It begins by discussing the definitions of inequality and inequity and some of the methodological challenges in investigating them. It then reviews a selection of NCAPOP audits for the inclusion of healthcare inequality data: based on patient data collection, reporting and analysis.
