Patient Advocate Hero Award

The Patient Advocate Hero Award  is one of five categories in our Clinical Audit Hero Awards. The award recognises clinical audits effectively engaging patients, whether through innovative practice or engagement activity.

The winner of this award will be announced during Clinical Audit Awareness Week on Tuesday 14 June 2022.

Eligibility criteria

Submissions must meet the following criteria:

  • Must involve an audit(s)
  • Individuals or teams can be nominated by themselves or by others
  • Projects, individuals or teams can be based in any type of health and care setting in the UK
  • Those nominated must have led or made a substantial contribution to the successful delivery of the project
  • Must show evidence of effectively engaging patients
  • Data collection period must have been since 1 October 2020
Judging criteria

Submissions will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Clear audit design*
  • Championing data-driven and evidence-based improvement as good practice
  • Evidence of engagement of patients, the public and carers during the planning stage
  • Evidence of engagement of patients, the public and carers when reviewing findings
  • Evidence of engagement of and collaboration with patients, the public and carers when planning implementation of quality improvement
  • Evidence of a re-audit showing improvement and sustainability
