National Early Inflammatory Arthritis Audit: Year 4 annual report 
Based on data data from 11,722 patients seen in England and Wales for the first time within specialist rheumatology services between 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022, the report provides information on national and regional performance against seven key metrics of care and on outcomes. Key findings include:

  • The speed of referral from primary care had improved, with 54% of referrals meeting the three-day NICE target (vs 47% in year two).
  • The first review by a specialist was achieved within three weeks of referral for 42% of patients (vs 48% in year two).
  • Disease remission was achieved in 34% of patients by three months after diagnosis (vs 37% in year two).

MBRRACE-UK Perinatal Mortality Surveillance Report 2020

The report focuses on the surveillance of perinatal deaths from 22+0 weeks’ gestational age (including late fetal losses, stillbirths and neonatal deaths) of babies born between 1st January and 31st December 2020.  Key findings include:

  • Extended perinatal mortality has reduced by 20% over seven years, from 6.04 per 1,000 total births in 2013 to 4.85 per 1,000 total births in 2020, equivalent to approximately 820 fewer deaths in 2020.
  • Stillbirth rates have reduced by 21% from 4.20 per 1,000 total births in 2013 to 3.33 per 1,000 total births in 2020, representing approximately 605 fewer stillbirths in 2020.
  • Stillbirth and neonatal mortality rates increased with deprivation across all ethnic groups.
