Annual report – Rebuilding FLSs to meet local patient need

Fracture Liaison Service Database (FLS-DB)

The Fracture Liaison Service Database (FLS-DB) collects, measures and reports on the care provided by FLSs. This annual report presents the results of secondary fracture prevention care received by patients aged 50 and older following a fragility fracture between January and December 2021.

Drawing breath

National Asthma and COPD Audit Programme (NACAP)

This report is a single ‘state of the nation’ view of the care of people with asthma and COPD in England and Wales, and is informed by 103,194 case records submitted to the audit programme. It is the first report to combine data on asthma, COPD and pulmonary rehabilitation across primary and secondary care services to underpin key messages, optimising respiratory care across the pathway.

Oesophago-gastric cancer report 2022

National Oesophago-Gastric Cancer Audit (NOGCA)

This report focuses on the care received by patients diagnosed with invasive epithelial cancer of the oesophagus, gastro-oesophageal junction (GOJ) or stomach, or high-grade dysplasia (HGD) of the oesophagus between April 2019 and March 2021. For outcomes of curative surgery among people with OG cancer, data are reported for a three year period (April 2018 to March 2021). It contains a number of findings related to: Patterns of care at diagnosis; staging and treatment planning; waiting times along the care pathway; curative surgery; and non-curative treatments as well as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Annual report 2022 – Prostate cancer services during the COVID-19 pandemic

National Prostate Cancer Audit (NPCA)

This report covers the diagnostic period between 1 April 2020 and 31 March 2021, to bring clinicians and patients up to date with the prostate cancer landscape as it stood during the pandemic in England and Wales.

For England, it also covers the period up to the end of December 2021 and, for Wales, up to the end of March 2021, finding that the COVID-19 pandemic had a profound impact on the care provided to patients with cancer, with delays in prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment.

 


Bowel cancer annual report 2022

National Bowel Cancer Audit (NBOCA)

This report covers an audit of the care received by people with bowel cancer in England and Wales diagnosed between 1 April 2020 and 31 March 2021, as well as those diagnosed between 1 April 2019 and 31 March 2020 who underwent a major resection after 31 March 2020. It found that there was a substantial reduction in the number of patients diagnosed with bowel cancer during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic across all referral pathways, except for emergency presentations which remained constant. However, the number returned to normal around October 2020.
