Department of Health announces subscription funding for nine NCAs

NHS Medical Director Professor Sir Bruce Keogh wrote to NHS Trusts and NHS Foundation Trusts yesterday to outline a change in the way that nine National Clinical Audits (NCAs) will be funded from April 2012.

HQIP, who manage and commission audits through the National Clinical Audit and Patient Outcomes Programme, will write to NHS providers in the first quarter of 2012/13 with further information about how the process will work.  Subscriptions will be collected in the second quarter of 2012/13. 

From 2012/13, NHS and Foundation Trusts will be required, where they are providing services, to contribute to the cost of nine audits (listed below):

  • Bowel Cancer
  • Head & Neck Cancer
  • Lung Cancer
  • Oesophageal Cancer
  • Angioplasty audit
  • Myocardial Infarction
  • Heart Failure
  • Neonatal Intensive care
  • Cartoid Interventions
