We are pleased to announce that the following NEW RESOURCES to support improvement in healthcare, from HQIP’s audits and programmes, have been published:
Inequities in hip fracture care
- Mind the Gap; National Hip Fracture Database (NHFD) – Highlights persistent inequalities in hip fracture care, showing that where a patient is treated has a greater impact on outcomes than who they are or where they live. Key findings stress the importance of factors such as delirium screening, clinical governance, and quality improvement.

Maternity care
- State of the Nation report 2026; Maternal, Newborn and Infant Clinical Outcome Review (MBRRACE-UK) – Presents the latest findings and lessons learned regarding maternal deaths and severe maternal morbidity. This report focuses on haemorrhage, infection, neurological conditions, general medical and surgical disorders, and critical care, highlighting key areas for improving the safety and quality of maternity care across the UK and Ireland.

Cancer
Reports from some of the audits with the National Cancer Audit Collaborating Centre (NATCAN), including:
- Primary breast cancer: State of the Nation report 2026; National Audit of Primary Breast Cancer (NAoPri) / NATCAN – Assesses the quality of care for people diagnosed with primary breast cancer in England and Wales between 2021 and 2023, and includes key findings to support improvement in care outcomes.
- Metastatic breast cancer: State of the Nation report 2026; National Metastatic Breast Cancer Audit (NAoMe) / NATCAN – Reviews care for people with newly diagnosed metastatic breast cancer across England and Wales between 2021 and 2023.
- Pancreatic cancer: State of the Nation report 2026; National Pancreatic Cancer Audit (NPaCA) / NATCAN – Evaluates pancreatic cancer diagnosis, treatment, supportive care and outcomes, in relation to people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer between 1 January 2022 and 31 December 2023 in England, and 1 January 2023 and 31 December 2024 in Wales.
- Non-Hodgkin lymphoma: State of the Nation report 2026; National Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Audit (NNHLA) / NATCAN – Assesses diagnosis, treatment, toxicity and outcomes for people with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, finding that emergency presentation remains common, while delays and treatment toxicity concerns remain.
- Oesophago-gastric cancer: State of the Nation report 2026; National Oesophago-Gastric Cancer Audit (NOGCA) / NATCAN – Reviews the care received by people diagnosed with oesophageal or gastric cancer between 1 January 2023 and 31 December 2024 in England and Wales, showing that many patients present with advanced disease, and treatment delays remain significant.
