This programme, which is part of the National Cancer Audit Collaborating Centre (NATCAN), evaluates patterns of care and outcomes for people diagnosed with kidney cancer in England and Wales. It aims to help NHS organisations benchmark their kidney cancer care against measurable standards, to identify unwarranted variation in measures of processes and outcomes, and to describe national levels and patterns of these measures.
There is scope to improve access to systemic anti-cancer therapy for patients with advanced disease, as it can improve quality of life, extend survival, and alleviate cancer-related symptoms.” NKCA State of the Nation report 2025
Supporting improvement
The NKCA Quality Improvement Plan describes the approach taken across the NATCAN cancer audits to develop improvement goals and performance indicators / metrics, aiming for these to be measurable, actionable and improvable. Further information can be found on the programme website.
