National Oesophago-Gastric Cancer Audit (NOGCA)
Delivered by:
Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCSEng)
Website:

Part of the National Cancer Audit Collaborating Centre (NATCAN), this programme aims to measure the quality and outcomes of care for people diagnosed with oesophageal or gastric (OG) cancer in NHS hospitals in England and Wales, and to support OG cancer services to improve the quality of the care that people receive.

The audit sets out to achieve this by:

  • identifying quality improvement goals and indicators
  • producing regular, timely information on the care received by people with OG cancer
  • highlighting regional variations in care, and providing organisation-level data for providers on their practice and outcomes
  • developing interventions and providing resources to support quality improvement.

Supporting improvement

The NOGCA Quality Improvement Plan describes the approach taken across the NATCAN cancer audits to develop improvement goals and performance indicators / metrics, aiming for these to be measurable, actionable and improvable. Further information can be found on the programme website.
