Maximising NCAPOP data for CQC inspections: Optimal data flow

This report forms part of the joint working initiative between HQIP and CQC to refine and extend the systematic use of national clinical audit and outcome review programme (NCAPOP) data to support both CQC inspections and hospitals’ QI and their quality assurance.

This document describes the current status of data flow, specifics of creating new data flows to CQC and HQIP, benefits of additional data flow, underlying statutory principles and information governance arrangements of relevance.

This document should be read alongside the overarching document entitled ‘Prioritisation of metrics from National Clinical Audits and Clinical Outcome Review Programmes’.
