National Diabetes Audit 2019-20: Type 1 Diabetes

The National Diabetes Audit (NDA), which provides a comprehensive view of diabetes care in England and Wales, has published its first Type 1 Diabetes report.

Based on data collected from 98 specialist services in England and Wales from January 2019 to 31 March 2020, the report details the findings and recommendations relating to diabetes care process completion, treatment target achievement and education for people with Type 1 diabetes.

Overall 218,670 patients were identified as having Type 1 diabetes, and 35.9% of these were confirmed at an adult specialist service. The report also covers:

  • Demographics of patients with Type 1 diabetes
  • Insulin regimes
  • Care structures
