Update on the Directory of Registers and Clinical Databases

3 November 2011

Ahead of the publication of the third edition of the Directory of Registers and Clinical Databases later this month, HQIP would like to thank all those members who have submitted information about the geographical area their registry covers - this is a new addition.

"Maintaining this database is just one the ways HQIP supports the work of audits and registries across the UK.  This resource lists together as many relevant projects which collect systematic data on procedures, conditions and services in healthcare as possible. Bringing together these clinical registers, databases and surveillance registers has enabled us to build a free online database for everyone to access" said HQIP Chief Executive Robin Burgess.

Burgess concluded "HQIP is keen to expand the reach of the Directory, so if you know of a register which is not currently listed, please get in touch."

The Directory currently contains in the region of 130 registers across a wide range of disciplines, with coverage ranging from a specific local region, to the whole of UK, to Europe and beyond.

Anyone wishing to submit a response to the review, add additional information or make changes to an entry on the Directory is encouraged to complete a quick questionnaire and return it to update.directory@hqip.org.uk.  If you know of a register which is not currently listed, please email with any information you have and we will investigate further.

Note: all new topic proposals, audits currently included in the NCAPOP Programme, and/or the Quality Accounts Process are not included in the Directory. Further information on these topics can be found within the links for National Clinical Audit and Registries on the HQIP website.
