Parkinson's Audit live from 1 July.

21 July 2010

Every year Parkinson's UK together with the group of professionals launches the annual Parkinson's Audit, which is designed to enable neurologists and geriatricians to evaluate the effectiveness of their Parkinson's services and pinpoint areas for improvement.

60 centres  this year has participated to audit their Parkinson’s service and will be capturing data on service description and first clinic visits by people referred with suspected Parkinson's from 1 July to 30 November. Every organization which participates will receive an analysis of its own data and how this compares with other anonymised centres. The report is set to be published in April 2011.

"We will use the results to campaign for equal access to essential services for people with Parkinson's," said Parkinson's UK Director of Research Dr Kieran Breen. "Last year 45 centres took part, revealing that a third of patients with suspected Parkinson's had to wait to see a specialist for more than six weeks."
