NCAPOP: COPD and Emergency Laparotomy added to programme
13 October 2011
HQIP has been instructed by the Department of Health to commence procurement of national clinical audits based on proposals received in the recent call for new topics. The first two to be procured are the National Clinical Audit Programme for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and the National Emergency Laparotomy Audit.
One early stage in the procurement is the development of high quality service specifications against which tender returns can be invited. The specifications need to reflect the DH commissioning requirements for the project and will be largely based on the new topic proposal which was received and selected.
The overall aim of these specification development meetings (SDM) is to provide advice to allow HQIP to review the key design features embodied in the proposal against the Department of Health commissioning requirements, discuss the associated risks and consider whether any elements need to be refined or added to.
The SDMs for The National Clinical Audit Programme for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and the National Emergency Laparotomy Audit will take place in the two weeks commencing 31 October 2011. Experts who feel they can contribute specifically to these SDMs should contact the HQIP National Clinical Audit Development Associate Samantha McIntyre at samantha.mcintyre@hqip.org.uk by 5pm Friday 21 October 2011 for further details.
HQIP may then use the output of this meeting when completing the specifications. No attendee of the meeting with the potential to be part of a future tender return, will be able to have sight of the specifications moving forward until the tender packs are sent out, so as not to gain any unfair advantage during this process. Relevant information or materials made available at the meeting will be published on the HQIP website along with a summary of the minutes.
