National clinical audit summit set to revitalise clinical audit

5 November 2008: The White Paper "Trust, Assurance and Safety" called for clinical audit to be revitalised.  In response, the Department of Health (DH) has increased funding for clinical audit.  This summit provided an opportunity for leaders of national clinical audits to debate the vision for the future of clinical audit.

Run jointly by the National Clinical Audit Advisory Group (NCAAG), advisors to the Department of Health about national strategy for clinical audit, and HQIP, ‘Revitalising Clinical Audit - a summit for the leaders of national clinical audit - was an interesting, stimulating and informative day.

The opening session introduced and launched the new management arrangements for clinical audit and provided an opportunity to question the leaders of the medical and nursing professions and those leading the development of the clinical audit strategy.

Further sessions included interactive workshops and question and answer panels - offering an opportunity to get truly involved in setting the audit strategy.
