Independent Advisory Groups for Clinical Outcome Review Programmes appointed

6 January 2012

The Independent Advisory Group members have now been appointed to the four Clinical Outcome Review Programmes. These four programmes are the Medical and Surgical Programme; Mental Health Programme; Child Health Programme and the Maternal, Infant and Perinatal Programme.

There was an excellent response to the call for nominations to the groups with 153 nominations received for a total of 31 places across the four groups. Clinicians will join representatives of the programme funding bodies from the Department of Health England, NHSSPS Northern Ireland, NHS Scotland and NHS Wales.

The membership for each group is currently being finalised and these details are scheduled to be announced by Tuesday 24 January 2012 on this webpage and via the HQIP eBulletin.

Advisory Group members were nominated by the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, the Royal College of Nursing, the Royal College of Midwifery, the offices of the Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Medical Officer for England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales as well as the Health Departments of the four nations. Selection was overseen by the Medical Director for England and Chief Medical Officers for Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

As the commissioner for these programmes on behalf of the funding bodies, HQIP will be guided by each Independent Advisory Group on topic selection for each programme as well as progress and programme outputs.
