NHS Boards guidance launched and seminar announced as HQIP seeks to drive board-level engagement in clinical audit
Today the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) launches guidance designed to engage NHS Board members in clinical audit and therefore improve patient care.
‘Clinical audit: A simple guide for NHS Boards and partners' marks the first stage of HQIP's ongoing strategy to improve Board-level involvement in clinical audit.

Its launch follows the Audit Commission's 2009 report ‘Taking it on Trust', which found that "few trusts could set out how clinical audit was being used in a systematic way to address risks".

The HQIP-commissioned guidance - written by Dr. John Bullivant and Andrew Corbett-Nolan - is designed to aid NHS Boards in managing their clinical audit programme and ensure it supports the board's strategic priorities.
The publication focuses on practical information on embedding clinical audit within clinical governance, and is designed to help Boards quickly grasp how audit can become an essential quality driver and stimulate and shape strategic development.
The guidance will be officially launched to an audience of NHS Board members at a seminar-led event later this spring - at Manchester's The Place Hotel on April 13.
The event will also include Q&A sessions and networking for NHS Board-level representatives. The session is free to attend and those interested should contact HQIP Development Officer Kim Rezel via kim.rezel@hqip.org.uk or telephone 020 7469 2511.
