HQIP has four teams which work collaboratively to promote and support better health and social care:

Jane Ingham - Interim Chief Executive

Jane joined HQIP in March 2013 on a part-time, interim basis while HQIP recruits a new permanent CEO. During her tenure she will be sharing her time with her ongoing role at the Royal College of Physicians as Director of its Clinical Standards Department.  Jane has broad experience working in healthcare quality improvement from developing standards of care, measuring care through to using this data with teams to improve patient services. Additionally Jane has extensive experience in organisational leadership. Jane was part of the original team which helped establish HQIP in 2008, from helping construct and winning the first contract, to providing executive oversight of the early organisational set-up. Joan is responsible for providing effective business management to HQIP and leads on finance. She has many years' experience in charities and is ICSA qualified. Her experience includes service as a charity trustee and Treasurer. Contact >>

 

 nullJames Thornton - Communications Manager

James is responsible for overall management of marketing, communications and media liaison at HQIP, working closely with all internal teams and external stakeholders. He has a wealth of media, marketing and communications experience, including eight years as a journalist (specialising in marketing), before joining HQIP in January 2010. Since that time he has led a number of high profile projects, including the redesign  of HQIP's website, eBulletin news service and NCAF. Contact >>

National Clinical Audit & Patient Outcomes Programme (NCAPOP) and Clinical Outcome Review Programmes (CORP) team

nullHelen Laing - National Clinical Audit Lead

Helen is responsible for the management of the national clinical audit and patient outcomes programme for HQIP. The role includes the oversight of procurement for the smaller multisite audits and registry databases. She has previously worked in Germany developing new primary and secondary healthcare services for HM Forces and for QinetiQ as a management consultant for healthcare.  Helen holds a post-graduate qualification in law, following a degree in health service management and began her career as a midwife. Carol Pilcher - Procurement Manager

Carol is responsible for general procurement advice and issuing new tenders for the audit programme.  Contact >>

Yvonne Silove - National Clinical Audit Development Manager

Yvonne is responsible for overseeing tender specifications, working alongside contracts and procurement staff within NCAPOP.  Contact >>

Quality Improvement and Development team

nullKate Godfrey - National Lead for Quality Improvement and Development

Kate is responsible for promoting clinical audit to local practitioners in order to improve capacity, competence and effectiveness locally. She qualified as a RGN in 1988 working in respiratory care, emergency medicine and haematology. From 1995 Kate worked in clinical audit at a London teaching hospital, becoming Lead for clinical governance in 1998. In 2001 she became a Clinical Governance Review Manager for the Commission for Health Improvement, and in 2005 Area Manager for the Healthcare Commission, before joining HQIP in 2009. Contact >>

Liz Smith - Quality Improvement and Development Facilitator

Liz works to develop products and resources to encourage and facilitate clinical audit and other quality improvement activities at a local level. She supports regional clinical audit networks and local healthcare providers in the East of England, London and the South.   Contact >>

Mandy Smith - Quality Improvement and Development Facilitator

Mandy works to develop products and resources to encourage and facilitate clinical audit and other quality improvement activities at a local level. She supports regional clinical audit networks and local healthcare providers in the Midlands and North of England.    Contact >>

Alex Bird - Quality Improvement and Development Officer

Responsible for assisting in the formulation of HQIP operational policy and development activity, administering the National Clinical Audit Forum (NCAF) and other web content.  Contact >>

Kim Rezel - Patient and Public Involvement Lead and Development Officer

Kim is responsible for the formulation and implementation of HQIP's Patient and Public Involvement strategy and the Development plan and coordinates and supports HQIP's Patient Network. Kim assists in the formulation of HQIP operational policy and development activity.  Contact >>

National Joint Registry team

nullElaine Young - National Development Lead

Elaine's responsibility includes the overall management of the National Joint Registry (NJR) and the development of national project work at HQIP.  Having transferred from the Department of Health, her previous roles have included executive and board level positions overseeing acute, mental health and community sectors as well as responsibilities for non-clinical support and risk management. Elaine also has extensive experience of leadership programmes for health professionals and redesign initiatives for health services. Contact >>

Melissa Wright - Development Officer (NJR)

Responsible for supporting the work of a number of the NJR sub committees i.e. Regional Clinical Coordinators Network, Editorial Board, Implant Scrutiny Group, and Outlier Surgeon Group and for monitoring the performance of NJR contracts. Alex Henderson - Committee Administrator

Responsible for providing a secretariat and support function to the National Joint Registry Steering Committee and its sub-committees, as well as the National Advisory Group on Clinical Audit & Enquiries. Alex also provides executive support to the National Development Lead, and administrative support on a range of NJR activity associated with this role.  Contact >>

'Everyone Counts' transparency agenda

To help deliver the NHS Commissioning Board's 'Everyone Counts' transparency agenda - where 10 clinical audits will report outcomes at consultant-level - HQIP has a temporary, seconded team:

nullBen Bridgewater, HQIP Director of Outcomes Publication

Following HQIP's appointment by the NHS Commissioning Board to manage its ‘Everyone Counts' transparency work, Ben joined HQIP on a part-time interim sabbatical basis in March 2013. The project will see 10 clinical audits report outcomes at consultant level by June 2013, and Ben is well-placed to lead this, as a consultant cardiac surgeon at the University Hospital of South Manchester and lead for the programme to publish data on cardiac surgical outcomes in the UK. In addition to his operative commitments, Ben is heavily involved through various roles with the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery of GB and Ireland, the Royal College of Surgeons, and the National Institute for Clinical Outcomes Research. He is also an Honorary Reader at the University of Manchester. Contact >>

nullBecca Cosgriff, HQIP Outcomes Publication Project Manager

Becca supports Ben Bridgewater, working at HQIP three days a week across the duration of the ‘Everyone Counts' launch project from March 2013. She is seconded from the National Institute for Cardiovascular Outcomes Research (NICOR) - based at University College London - where she is the National Adult Cardiac Surgery Audit Project Manager. Previously, Becca has worked in clinical audit and quality improvement at Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Trust, St George's Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital. Becca recently project managed the publication of outcomes data on the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery website. Contact >>

HQIP Clinical Fellows

In April 2012, HQIP was pleased to confirm its first Clinical Fellow, Doctor Rishabh Prasad.

Their appointment was the result of a collaboration between HQIP and RCGP and the two will be tasked with helping promote clinical audit amongst GPs and developing ways to enable GPs to learn about audit, in the training and as part of their ongoing practice.

Doctor Rishabh Prasad is a First-5 GP in Leicester, the city's clinical lead for anticoagulation pathway re-design and co-lead on a pilot project which uses reflective practice to reduce admissions.  Rishabh is also an honorary RCGP Clinical Commissioning Champion, and Principal Lecturer in Clinical Commissioning at De Montfort University.
