How should we choose which local audits to support?

This can only be a local decision. It is important that Trusts have processes to prioritise which local audits to support. On this website you will find material which helps assess the quality of proposals put forward, whether what is being proposed is auditable and if there is help and support available from a national body, or standard tools available.

However, the main driver should be whether the issue proposed for audit is a pressing and important one locally, reflected in local data or epidemiology, or where there is a clear potential for improvements in local services. The purpose of audit is to improve quality and if a proposed audit offers this potential then it should be supported.
