First Clinical Audit & GP Revalidation Strategy event hailed a success
HQIP's first Clinical Audit & GP Revalidation event - for which it linked with the Royal College of General Practitioners - has been hailed a success by all concerned, with further GPs sessions now being planned.
The London event took place on 12 May with 20 leading GPs joining HQIP and RCGP to help map out a joint Clinical Audit & GP Revalidation Strategy ahead of the 2011 GMC revalidation deadline.

With clinical audit a fundamental part of the revalidation process for all doctors, HQIP is working with the Clinical Innovation and Research Centre at RCGP to create a strategy that supports quality improvement in practice as GPs begin revalidation.
The event sought to illustrate how clinical audit can be combined with existing quality improvement initiatives and dispel misconceptions that clinical audit requires extra work.
Discussions included the role of clinical audit in relation to the Quality Outcomes Framework, Significant Event Audit and other quality improvement processes as part of GP audit strategy for 2010-11. Speakers included RCGP Clinical Lead for Revalidation Mike Pringle and Professor David Haslam, National Clinical Adviser, Care Quality Commission.
"The event was extremely positive and provided us with an excellent platform as we plan our work with RCGP to engage GPs," commented HQIP National Development Lead Elaine Young. "We will shortly be meeting with RCGP again to discuss future live events and other tools to support the GP community ahead of revalidation."
