Clinical Audit Knowledge Exchange (CAKE)

Clinical Audit Knowledge Exchange (CAKE)

HQIP is working with Tribal Group to develop a new web-based system for managing clinical audit activity and programmes. Scheduled to launch in 2011, the system will be accessible by anyone working in local or national clinical audit, and appropriate safeguards will be built in to ensure compliance with best practice standards in data security and information governance.

The system:

  • Will be available to individuals working in NHS Trusts or other groups, e.g. multi-site audit groups, independent contractors such as GPs, dentists, pharmacists, etc.
  • Will allow clinical audit leaders to develop and manage their clinical audit programmes, and generate reports e.g. project status, participation rates
  • Will provide access to national standards/guidelines against which to audit
  • Will allow users to download existing templates or create and share new templates
  • Will allow users to manage clinical audit data in safe and secure environment
  • Will encourage users to upload results (e.g. for clinical audits undertaken using NICE clinical audit support tools), benchmark their results against other trusts and share good practice
  • Will facilitate clinical audit report generation

Consultation with the clinical audit community on issues related to the development of the system will be announced here and on NCAF.
